In the Aftermath of Israel’s Attack on 7 Gaza Volunteers Lloyd Austin Expresses His Anger and Calls for an Independent and Thorough Investigation. United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed his anger when speaking with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant on Wednesday 3 April 2024 evening.

This is related to the Israeli attack on a humanitarian aid convoy which killed seven World Central Kitchen volunteers this week. Austin also emphasized the need to take concrete action to protect Palestinian volunteers and civilians.

Apart from that, his party asked Galant to carry out a fast and transparent investigation, announce the conclusions to the public, and be responsible. According to Austin, this tragedy has increased concerns about Israel’s planned military operation in Rafah. The deaths of the seven volunteers also complicate efforts to increase the availability of humanitarian aid for Palestinians. Austin is therefore pushing for an increase in aid sent through all channels in the coming days.

The seven volunteers were attacked by Israel while leaving the humanitarian aid warehouse in Der Al Balah, South Gaza Monday, April 1 2024. Even though they had previously coordinated with the Israeli army when sending aid to Palestinians. It is known that they are citizens of Australia, Poland, England, Palestine, and a person with dual US and Canadian citizenship. Due to this tragedy, World Central Kitchen asked their home countries to demand an independent investigation into the attack.
