Israeli Hamas Ceasefire Is Being Proposed And Taking Place

Israeli Hamas Ceasefire Is Being Proposed And Taking Place. The Hamas group is studying a new proposal from Israel regarding a potential ceasefire in Gaza. This was stated by the deputy head of Hamas’s political wing Khil Alhya on Saturday 27 April 2024, after a delegation from Egyptian mediators reportedly arrived in Israel in an attempt to start stalled negotiations. Signs of new ceasefire negotiations occurred at the same time as Israel was preparing to carry out an attack on the city of Rafah.

Previously, there was a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in November 2023. At that time the ceasefire succeeded in exchanging 80 Israeli Sandras for 240 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. The ceasefire also opened up access for humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians. However, after that, negotiations regarding a new ceasefire never found common ground. Negotiations stalled because both parties had offers that the other party could not accept.

Hamas is determined to implement a permanent ceasefire, something that is rejected by Israel, which wants Hamas to be completely eradicated. Several Israeli media also said that their war cabinet had discussed new plans for a ceasefire and the release of hostages, ahead of the Egyptian delegation’s visit.

On the other hand, the Israel – Hamas war will be on the agenda of the summit meeting of the world economic forum which will start in Saudi Arabia on the week of April 28 2024. A special session on Gaza is scheduled for Monday April 29 2024. In this session the new Palestinian prime minister Muhammed Mustafa will be present. , Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Matboli and UN aid coordinator for the Gaza Grit Cup.
