PKS has confirmed that it will not nominate Anis Baswedan in the Jakarta regional elections in November

PKS has confirmed that it will not nominate Anis Baswedan in the Jakarta regional elections in November. The reason PKS did not nominate Anis was because the former Governor of Jakarta has now become a national figure.

This was conveyed by PKS President Ahmad Siku in a press statement at the PKS DPP office in South Jakarta, Tuesday 23 April 2024. Siku explained that Anis’ entry in the 2024 presidential election made him a national figure. For this reason, Siku asked not to be relegated as a regional figure. Siku further said that regarding this matter, PKS will continue to make Anis a national figure.

Siiku also hopes that Anis can provide reciprocity by providing support for PKS in the upcoming regional elections. As is known, PKS is one of the parties that is supporting Anis in the 2024 presidential election. PKS also provided its support when Anis ran in the 2017 DKI Jakarta regional election. Anis is certain to lose the 2024 presidential election.

Anis was then predicted to run for the Jakarta regional elections. Meanwhile, the Nasdem party, which also supported Anis in the presidential election, said that it had communicated with PKB and PKS. Chairman of the Nasdem DPP in a statement on Tuesday 23 April said, There are a number of factors to be considered in the Jakarta regional elections. Willy further said that his party was willing to roll out the carpet for Anis if he really wanted to run again.

Even so, currently there are a number of names that have the potential to run for the Jakarta gup election. Such as Nasdem treasurer Ahmad Saroni, chairman of the DKI Nasdem DPW Wibi Andrino, PKB waketum Ida Fauziah, to the chairman of the PKS DPP.
