Tensions Between NATO And Russia Are Increasing Due To The Deployment Of Troops And Military Equipment On The Border

Tensions between NATO and Russia are increasing due to the deployment of troops and military equipment on the border. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Soigu said NATO was deploying soldiers and armored vehicles on Russia’s borders. Soigu said that around 33,000 troops and 300 tanks and more than 800 other types of armored vehicles had been deployed near the Russian border.

The Minister of Defense also said that NATO exercises involving 90,000 troops were still ongoing. The drills were to ward off suspected future Russian aggression. Soigu added that the alliance is working to strengthen its activities in the Arctic. Meanwhile Sweden’s accession to NATO increased tensions.

Meanwhile, tensions between Russia and Ukraine are still ongoing. On Monday 22 April 2024, Russia claimed to have controlled housing settlements in Donet for the last 24 hours. On the other hand, Ukraine on the same day also stated that they had attacked a Russian command post. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian army had completely taken control of residential areas in the Donets. The Russian army also managed to repel three Ukrainian counterattacks on Bogdanovka and other settlements by shooting down 240 drones.
