Various Anti Israel Demonstrations Took Place On Many American Campuses

Various anti Israel demonstrations took place on many American campuses. Student demonstrations supporting Palestine from Israeli aggression have spread to various world’s best campuses, especially in the United States. In the last week, the Defending Palestine action attracted controversy due to the US police forcibly disbanding the action. Even arrested several Columbia University students.

The initiator and central area of the demonstration was the first victim with a total of 60 students arrested by the police on Monday 22 April. The following day, around 100 New York University students and 50 Texas University students were also arrested by the police on the pretext of causing riots on the streets of New York City. Meanwhile, other campuses such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or MIT and Harvard University in England held demonstrations by building tents on their campuses.

Al Jazeerah reports that so far more than 500 students in total have been victims of arrests in the US and UK. As a result of this action, meanwhile, United States President Joe Biden called the demonstrators an antisemitic group, aka a group that hates Jews. According to Biden, the students who took to the streets were a group of young people who did not understand the true conditions between Israel and Palestine. US youth are also said to have been influenced by the massive spread of pro-Palestinian content on TikTok.

On this basis, the US passed a law prohibiting TikTok from operating in its country. Until now, demonstrations rejecting support for Israel are still being held by various campuses. The University of South Carolina even canceled its students’ graduation agenda to take to the streets together with several campus lecturers and staff.
